Our Events

Here is a list of our current events happening at the Thomas Merton Center!

Sip 'N Shop

WHEN: March 1st; 6-10pm

WHERE: East End Community Thrift

For thirty years East End Community Thrift in partnership with Thomas Merton Center have worked to ensure our community can access low cost gently used clothing and home supplies. As so much time has passed, and thousands of people have come through our store, there has been quite a bit of wear and tear to the floors. We’re launching a fundraising campaign to #FixTheFloor in 2024! Please consider sending a donation of $5-$25 to help us reach our goal of $5,000.

Meals for
the Unhoused

WHEN: Fridays, 2-4pm

WHERE: Community Forge

Every Friday from 2-4pm our members gather at Community Forge to put meals together to bring to our unhoused neighbors downtown.

  • Here’s how you can participate in Mutual Aid:

    • Meal Prep for distro’s on Fridays from 2-4pm at Community Forge

    • Attend a Meal Distro: Join community members in giving out food and other items to folks. Ask Rachel for day/time/location

Right to Council

In the City of Pittsburgh, thousands of low-income tenants are facing eviction in Housing Court. A Right to Counsel Law would provide tenants with free legal representation and counseling services during major housing eviction cases. As it stands, tenants rarely have legal representation, but landlords do! The Pittsburgh Housing Justice Table is seeking your help to introduce a free legal representation service called Right to Counsel for tenants here in Pittsburgh. Please sign our petition and together we can stop the eviction crisis and tenants won't have to face eviction alone!

Anti-Racist
Book Club

WHEN: Every-Other Thursday, 6:30-7:30pm

WHERE: Zoom

This book club was designed for our members and supporters to come together in a safe space to work on unlearning our own internalized racism and colonialist mentalities.
