Working towards giving people the knowledge to advocate for themselves and their neighbors.
About the Event
The Thomas Merton Center has been working with Pittsburgh mutual aid groups, advocates and activists around issues that perpetuate homelessness and housing insecurity, and that further victimize and criminalize our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
While we work to raise the morale questions on these issues, and build community power to create systemic change, we are also mobilizing resources to bolster the capacity and support of mutual aid networks. One way we are helping to build capacity is by hosting a series of skill-shares, workshops and presentations.
The first being Healthcare Help Playbook, a virtual workshop on Saturday, December 2 from 11am-1pm.
The impacts of medical debt are some of the leading causes of homelessness, and this workshop will give participants the tools and resources they need to advocate for themselves and their neighbors. The Playbook also offers a framework for organizing healthcare help networks in your community.
