*Terrell Johnson was set up and convicted for a murder he didn’t commit at age 18 and has spent 15 years in prison on a sentence of life without parole;
*No physical evidence—no murder weapon or fingerprints—exists in this case;
*Terrell was convicted on the testimony of a drug addict with an extensive criminal record who was facing up to 50 years in prison. Police paid her $10,000 and reduced or dropped outstanding charges against her after her testimony, including charges for prostituting children;
*This witness admitted that Terrell “just got caught up”;
*Two people signed statements that Terrell was with them that night, helping baby-sit 6 children;
*Two key witnesses, including a woman who Terrell helped baby-sit 6 children with that night, did not testify due to threats on their life from gang members;
*Two other men accused in the shooting were found innocent at later trials because they could afford lawyers who had the resources to investigate the case and disprove the sole witness’s account;
*another woman claims she was with the prosecution’s star witness all night, and knows she did not in fact witness the shooting, because they never left her house where they were both working as prostitutes;
*Commonwealth of PA offered Terrell 7 1/2 to 15 years plea bargain.Terrell refuses to bargain on a crime he did not commit. Terrell is innocent and should be immediately released!
*Terrell has won a new trial and with it a chance to get his life back. On April 12th join the Justice for Terrell Campaign and Human Rights Coalition—Innocence Division as we rally courthouse support for Terrell!
Terrell Johnson was sentenced to life in prison for killing a woman in 1994 in Pittsburgh's Hazelwood neighborhood. The key witness against Johnson was later shown to be a crack addict and criminal who received deals to escape more jail time. The witness changed her story several times and evidence shows her testimony was riddled with inconsistencies.
