Labor Day Parade
Although many countries in the world consider May 1 to be the day to honor workers, the US has insisted upon celebrating Labor Day at the beginning of September. Every year in Pittsburgh, it’s marked by a parade through downtown, organized by the AFL-CIO.

This year, Save Our Transit marched with the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85. The Anti-War Committee marched right behind the Service Employees International Union.

“It was important that we were there to remind people that the war isn’t good for working people,” said AWC organizer Pete Shell, “and that money should be spent on jobs and education instead of war and occupation.”
