Join Just Harvest to Honor Molly Rush with “Seeds of Justice Award”on October 14

Just Harvest is proud to award our “2004 Seeds of Justice Award” to a tireless and courageous activist, Molly Rush. An inspiration to hundreds of us over the years, Molly is best known for her work in the peace movement, but she is also a pioneering leader in the struggle to end hunger. A co-founder in 1975 of the Hunger Action Coalition, she continued that legacy as a founder and board member of Just Harvest in 1987.

Molly will accept the honor at Just Harvest’s Annual Harvest Celebration fundraising dinner on Thursday evening, October 14.  Molly will be the second recipient of this award. Former Congressman Bill Coyne was the first awardee.

We invite you to buy a few tickets or a table to honor Molly and recognize her steadfast contributions to peace and justice.

The keynote speaker at the dinner is Will Durst, America’s Premier Political Comic, who will entertain us with “serious laughs.”

Since its founding in 1987, Just Harvest has been an active voice in the Pittsburgh area, fighting to change the public policies that create and perpetuate hunger and poverty. Through Just Harvest, many people from the community have learned how public policies are made and changed.  We are committed to education, empowerment and mobilization of folks in the community. Hearings, demonstrations, press events and legislative visits are among the tactics we use to pressure for change in food stamps, school lunches, fair taxes, welfare rights, living wage, among other issues.

The 16th Harvest Celebration Dinner, at the Omni William Penn downtown, begins with a VIP wine and cheese reception at 5 pm, followed by an outstanding silent auction and cocktails at 6. The dinner and program begin at 7pm.

Tickets are $40 per person; $75 includes VIP reception. Please RSVP as soon as possible.
