San Francisco Solidarity

In San Francisco on June 8, police corralled protestors at a Reclaim the Streets G-8 protest solidarity march. One hundred thirty one peaceful demonstrators were refused any opportunity to disperse before being arrested. Earlier in the day several hundred activists protesting the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) convention were outnumbered by a large and heavily armed police presence and 32 arrests were made. Upon their release, prisoners accused the SF Sheriff’s Department of using intimidation, deception, psychological torture, physical violence and pain compliance in the jail. Both events were part of a weeklong Bay Area convergence called "Reclaim the Commons." For more info, see www.indybay.org.
